Sunday Snips & Stuff--Another Snip from my latest Books We Love release-A Heart in Conflict (Challenge the Heart Book 2)

“This is a fun romp through the fashion world in Australia. Steve Tanakis is a dark, brooding hero with a fragile heart and a penchant for neutral colours. Georgie is a free spirit who surrounds herself with bright hues and lots of laughter. Their love story is touching, funny, and very moving. How Georgie wins her man and finds her dream job, and how Steve conquers Georgie’s heart, is a fast-paced, beguiling story that kept me turning pages until way after midnight.”—Review by Jennifer Macaire

“Aided by Steve’s son and Georgie’s younger sister, this mismatched pair can’t help but fall in love. A thoroughly enjoyable read filled with humor and love.”
—Marie-Nicole Ryan

Opposites attract, it is a well-known fact. At times this leads to insurmountable conflict, when at other times, sit back and watch the fireworks.
Steve Tanakis considers himself cool and calmly confident. Head of a fashion business, he needs to be in control of his life and his business decisions. He decides it is time to find a suitable mother for his son. Through with the pain that comes along with passion, he now considers what he wants is an unemotional wife, one who will fit well into his way of life.
Georgie McNamara, assistant designer in his fashion house, is flamboyant, vivacious, and gregarious, the antitheses to his idea of the perfect choice. The tiny whirlwind turns Steve's organized lifestyle upside down, somehow worming her way into his, and his son’s life, foiling all his plans to find that uncomplicated wife. Along the way Steve comes to realize there is a lot more to this bundle of feminine trouble than he first thought. Is she more trouble than he can handle?

And here's the snippet:

Georgie closed the door and flopped down onto the side of the bed. Her feet were killing her. High heels weren’t made for long walks. She’d worn the highest she possessed in an effort to bring her more up to Steve’s size. Useless because she still only reached his shoulders.

Could she consider moving to London, even if the offer of a senior position in one of the major production companies promised a mind-boggling salary?

She rubbed her forehead wearily. Could she uproot and shift here, become a part of the international scene? Her dream of a business of her own would reach fruition so much sooner if she did. But how would Lucy react to being dragged to the other side of the world? No doubt her treatment could be carried out just as successfully here.

When Steve came back, while she sat rubbing a foot, he muttered, “Why you wear those stupid shoes I’ll never know.”

“Because I like to look at people’s faces, not their belly buttons!”

He chuckled. “You exaggerate, darling.” Georgie stared at him. “If you’re worried about being able to meet me face to face, don’t bother. I like you just as you are.”

“You do?”

“I do. I’d prefer to know you felt comfortable, rather than have you walking around with a pained expression on your face like now.”

“Thanks a lot. I don’t know whether that was a compliment, an insult, or a word of advice. So, how did you get on with the tickets?”

“We’re booked on a direct flight at eight-o-clock in the morning, travelling first class. That’s all I could get.”

Georgie swallowed as he sat beside her and gently took the foot she’d been rubbing.

“Lay back. I’ll give it a massage.” He proceeded to massage her toes, then the sole of her foot. “Just relax.”

She obeyed his tender order, sighing blissfully as he worked magic. “That’s heavenly.” Closing her eyes, a lassitude filled her. Not only did he have the lips of a god and a marvelous body, he had hands that could likely perform miracles.

    1. Thanks Juliet. Jennifer and I were with the same publisher for a while way back, and I value her opinions.
