The animals who have shared my journey.

I've had many animals in my lifetime, some have been more precious than others. Horses and dogs especially have featured in more than a few of my stories. Here are some of the main characters who played a part in my journey.
Peggy, my very first dog
Kim, my toy poodle. My husband gave her to me soon after our marriage. This was her first litter and we kept one. Susie and Kim accompanied us to Australia.
Gemma, the sweetest mutt you could meet. Unfortunately she had diabetes and didn't stay with us long.
Abby, the gentle one, with Twink, the only cat who owned us.
Abby again with Bindi, a true Aussie dog, part kelpie part heeler.
Jessie, part chihuahua, part terrier. She took Bindi's place in my heart after my husband passed away and only died earlier this year.

Candy and Baz, my latest. As you see I haven't gone for purebreds since my poodles but have adopted most of my dogs from the local shelter.
Another Kim, this one a thoroughbred who brought me much joy and won a couple of races before being retired to stud.
Kim's first born, a filly.
Her colt, not too good on the racetrack so became an event horse.
Shilo.
Pippin. The last pony I owned before my bad back forced me to give up riding.
Tammy, my mare, and perhaps my favourite.

  3. How much fuller our lives are when we share them with four legged creatures. They give of themselves and ask for little in return except our affection.

  4. Few pets in my lifetime! Grandfather
had a dog when we were small, we had
a little dog when our children were
young, and two of our college-aged
children "adopted" a kitten who was
born in a band storage room on the
    U. of Houston campus. A stray cat,
fed by the band kids, had her litter
in a box of pompoms! Gerald was with
us for some 9/10 years. That's our
    pet story!

  5. Tricia, I can only recall two, possibly, three years in my very long lifetime that I haven't been "mom" to at least one and at one time as many as nine dogs and horses... But to pick a favorite? Impossible! Waggles, my first... Her boy, Freckles, my second. My white boxer, Honey, who taught herself to jump through a hula hoop... Precious Beau, my chocolate poodle who went blind, but could still chase his ball... And then there's Torchlight, the last of my six rescued thoroughbreds... Tarzan the Shetland pony was my first...mean little cuss! But, perhaps, most special, dearest, at my side through some devastating times and taken from me far too early was my last purebred - a glorious Doberman Pinscher, Royalmeade's Shadowbriar Hawk. He lived with me on the 12th story of a highrise in Houston, TX, and loved to plant his front legs on the balcony rail and bark ferosiously at helicopters and such flying through our air space. Nearly twenty years and I still grieve for Hawk. God bless the animals.
